Federal Financial Aid Programs
AAMI participates in several federal aid programs administered by the U.S. Department of Education. Below is a breakdown of the most commonly used aid types.
Federal Pell Grant

Annual Limits- Dependent students: $5,500 (max $3,500 subsidized)
- Independent students: $9,500 (max $3,500 subsidized)

How To Apply For Financial Aid
All students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year at studentaid.gov.
You will need the following:
- Your federal income tax return and W-2s
- (If dependent) Your parent’s tax return and W-2s
- Additional income records (child support, Social Security, etc.)
You’ll receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Department of Education, followed by a customized email from AAMI with your next steps.
Important: Students using financial aid to pay for tuition must apply at least 6 weeks before the semester start date. The final deadline for financial aid for a given year is June 30.


Academic & Federal Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for federal financial aid at AAMI, you must meet both academic and federal eligibility criteria.
These requirements help ensure that all aid recipients are enrolled in an approved degree program and are making consistent progress toward graduation.
Establishing Financial Aid Eligibility
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen
- Have a valid Social Security number
- Be enrolled in the AAMI Associate Degree Program (minimum 6 credits per term)
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Not be in default or owe a refund on any federal aid
Maintaining Financial Aid Eligibility
- You must meet academic progress standards for GPA and course completion
- Attendance is required in at least 80% of scheduled hours per course
- Online students must show active participation, such as submitting assignments or taking exams
- Logging in without engaging in academic activity does not count as attendance
