Campus Program FAQs
How long does it take to complete the program on campus?
Full-time students typically complete the program in 12 months (3 semesters) with transfer credit or 16 months (4 semesters) without.
Is there an orientation for campus students?
Yes. AAMI hosts an orientation prior to the start of your first semester.
Is there a dress code?
Yes. Campus students are expected to dress in business casual attire.
Is attendance required every day?
Yes. All students (online and campus) must attend at least 80% of all scheduled course hours.
Is there a computer lab on campus?
There is no designated lab, but computers are available in the campus library.

What’s the tuition cost?
Tuition is $595 per credit hour for both campus and online programs.
Can I complete a Funeral Director-Only program?
Not at this time. If the Funeral Director-Only track becomes accredited in the future, AAMI will consider offering it.
How do I buy textbooks?
All books and materials can be ordered through the AAMI Online Bookstore.
Is financial aid available?
Yes. Federal and some state aid options are available to those who qualify.
How can I pay?
AAMI accepts online payment by Visa/Mastercard and checks.
Will AAMI accept my transfer credits?
Yes. Courses that meet general education requirements may be eligible. Your transcript will be evaluated before your first class.
Do I need to register with the NYS Department of Health, even if I’m not from New York?
Yes. All students must register as a Student Trainee with the New York State Department of Health, regardless of their intended state of licensure.
Can I convert my diploma to an associate degree?
Yes, if eligible. There is a $100 administrative fee, and your transcript will be reviewed to confirm eligibility.
I started at another mortuary school. Can I finish at AAMI?
Yes. You may apply as a transfer student if you have credits from another ABFSE-accredited program.
Online Program FAQs
How long does the online program take?
Most students complete the online program in 18–24 months depending on their course load.
Can I earn the entire associate degree online?
Yes, with the exception of the Restorative Art clinical components, which must be completed in person.
Are online and campus courses the same?
Yes. Online courses offer the same content, expectations, and credit hours.
Is there a credit limit per semester?
Yes. Online students may take up to 14 credits per semester.
Is there a credit minimum per semester?
Yes. Students must follow a course schedule (shell) that meets program requirements.
Can I complete the program part-time in four years?
Yes. If you average 5–6 credits per semester, you can complete the program within four years.
What technology do I need?
You’ll need a computer with a webcam, printer, and high-speed internet access. A web browser and email access are also required.
How are exams taken online?
Most exams are taken online. Midterms and finals are password-protected and scheduled on specific dates.
Will I connect with other students?
Yes. Courses include discussion forums, team projects, and instructor interaction.
